Hannah Arendt: Facing Tyranny takes a closer look at one of the most fearless political writers of modern times. This is a rare opportunity to watch the film, which is being introduced by award-winning documentary producer, director, and writer Chana Gazit. Attendees will hear a discussion with two of the experts interviewed in the film: Founder and Academic Director of the Hannah Arendt Center at Bard Roger Berkowitz, and Bard College President Leon Botstein, a former student and colleague of Arendt.Having premiered on PBS nationwide on Friday, June 27, 2025, the documentary is anchored in Hannah Arendt’s life experience, including her resistance against the Nazi regime, working to help Jewish children escape to Palestine, her relationship with Martin Heidegger and her time in a prisoner of war camp before fleeing to the United States.
